Arindam Mohanty and Animesh Roy of Class - IX are the proud recipients of INSPIRE AWARDS-MANAK 2020. INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) scheme is one of the flagship programmes of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. The INSPIRE Awards - MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge), is being executed by DST with National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF), an autonomous body of DST. The objective of the scheme is to target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children. As part of the award, Arindam and Animesh have got a cash prize of INR 10000 each.
The idea presented by Arindam was to design a motorized ‘Cleaning Bot’ that will sweep the rain water from the corridors as well as clean the floor automatically. Animesh’s idea comprised of developing a device which can filter out PM 2.5 (PM stands for particulate matter, also called particle pollution) from the smoke. As this PM 2.5 is a black residue it can be mixed with vegetable oil to make a black ink which can be filled in pens or printer cartridges and used.
Growing Innovators 2.0 was organized by Steellun - Student Chapter of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NITR) in September, 2020. Students from all over the country participated in this competition which enhanced and inspired the minds of young students with thought provoking topics. 22 schools enrolled and 88 students brainstormed in the quiz competition. The online quiz took place in two phases, first the participants had to give an aptitude and reasoning test followed by question on general science topics. Rahul Mohapatra and Atul Patro of Class XII (Science) got the 2nd Runners Up in Growing Innovators 2.0
TCS IT Wiz, a ‘knowledge Initiative’ by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is the biggest inter-school IT Quiz in India for students of class 8-12. The quiz aims to build awareness and emphasize the importance of IT skills, and enable students to look at technology through an innovative perspective. It is a unique platform that provides young participants the opportunity to enhance their learning and knowledge in an out-of-classroom environment.
Siddhant Tripathi and Amritansu Sahoo from Class VIII were the runners up in the Bhubaneswar edition of TCS IT Wiz 2019. They received the Runner-Up Silver Trophy and cash award of INR 20000/- each. 2800 students from 68 schools across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack participated in this event.
Laranya Mohapatra, Class-VII, has secured the 1st rank in Odisha in the SOF International English Olympiad in 2019. She has been constantly securing top ranks in all SOF Examinations since 2015 in the Regional, National as well as International levels.
